Royal Terrace Long Term & Residential Care Home in Palmerston is getting an extension of nearly 180 new beds.
Minto council gave the green light at council yesterday for 99 new long term care beds and 80 retirement home beds.
The care home currently has 67 long term care and 50 retirement home beds.
Minto’s Director of Building and Planning Services, Terry Kuipers says with more beds, naturally comes expansion to the home.
“The proposed addition is completely sprinklered, brick cladded and includes 122 parking spaces, additional fire hydrants and storm water infiltration chambers. The owners proposing an attractive addition with a feel of residential as opposed to institutional” said Kuipers.
Council approved the request but no date yet for when the additions will be made has been set.
