Today marks 64 years since the collapse of the Listowel Arena.

The tragedy killed 7 young boys and their coach.

The Memorial Arena was built with what had remained of the original building and was home to the Listowel Cyclones until 2017.

A memorial plaque was placed dedicated to the coach and players who lost their lives and hanged at the Memorial Arena until it was moved to the Steve Kerr as part of the opening ceremony.

Today, a committee has since been formed to develop the Listowel Memorial Arena Park which continues its fundraising goal.

The park, regardless of its final design will pay memory to the family and community members involved who were impacted by the 1959 tragedy.
