The new Mount Forest outdoor pool costs building up is continuing to cause some council discussions.
Council on October 10th discussed the plans moving forward for the new pool and finding ways to come up with the funds to build the pool.
Councilor Sherry Burke who is the Chair of the Aquatics Committee says the cost estimate being over the expected $5 million is frustrating but still says money is needed to support recreational facilities.
“Moving forward I think that dollars, not just for the pool but also for recreation amenities should be set aside and dedicated to recreation through reserves and we’ve done a very poor job of doing that’ said Burke.
Councilor Steve McCabe voiced his issues on the dollar sign for the pool and adding the idea of having the reserves for recreation could have “fulsome discussion” during the budget.
Moving forward in capital budgets council will discuss the possibility of having money set aside to cover overrun costs for the pool.
