Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is advising the change in climate is leading to more instances of diseases from blood feeding pests such as ticks and mosquitoes.

Public health officials say the population of ticks which cause Lyme disease has been on the rise due to rising temperatures and the longer summers.

Public health says to be aware of any symptoms of Lyme disease if you are in contact with ticks which includes fever, chills, headache, muscle aches and joint pain and swollen lymph nodes.

If you feel like you have contracted or are concerned about Lyme disease you are asked to speak with your local health care provider.
