Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health is encouraging the public to test their homes for radon.

Radon is a colourless, odourless gas present in many homes which is naturally occurring radioactive gas found in soil, rocks and groundwater with testing being the only way to measure the presence of radon in your home.

Public health is partnering with Take Action on Radon funded by Health Canada and the Wellington County Library to provide 100 test kits for the first 100 residents who register.

Rebecca Hine, Chief Librarian for Wellington County says by providing free test kits to residents they are empowering the community to take steps which can make their homes safer and healthier.
