PSW Temporary Wage Increase Extended

Extension good up until October 31st

Personal support workers (PSW) will continue to get the boost they need as they continue to be on the front lines against COVID-19.

The provincial government is investing an additional $169 million to extend the temporary wage increase for PSW’s.

The extension has occurred three times since October of 2020. This will benefit the over 158,000 workers in long-term care, hospitals, home and community care and social service agencies.

The wage increase if three dollars per hour with the exception of public hospitals where the increase is set to $2.

The extension will be good up to October 31st in which the province will evaluate and determine if a 4th extension is needed.
