For long term care homes, Covid 19 has been costly. The Provincial Government is making major investments to make sure that the staff have the equipment they need to cope with the second wave of the pandemic.
Homes in Perth & Wellington will see about $991,000 says area MPP Randy Pettapiece today.
The new funding will be used to reduce the risk of the virus entering long term care homes from the community by covering eligible expenses like
- immediate health checkpoints to confirm staff and essential caregivers entering the building are properly screened,
- additional prevention and containment activities such as new staff to carry out addition workload and to replace workers who are sick or in isolation
- cleaning equipment beyond what’s typical at the home
- infection control measures based on clinical evidence, advice from a physician or other practitioner with expertise in infection control
