Over $880,000 is being provided towards local rural public transportation.

Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae says the money comes from Ontario’s Gas Tax program.

The majority of the funding is being provided to Stratford to the tune of $513,030 for city transit services and to assist in offsetting the operating costs and capital expenses.

In a release Rae says public transportation is an important service to our rural communities adding the provincial government will continue to be there for rural municipalities.

North Perth will see $80,090 with St Marys receiving $163,485.
