The Province has responded to the City of Stratford’s request to revoke the Ministerial Zoning Order in regards to the proposed float glass factor in the City’s South End.
The City passed the resolution on Monday with a 9 to 2 vote and 2 days later Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs has announced he will do just that. This response was on questioning by Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece.
Further on the topic Minister Clark added that Ministerial Zoning Orders will not be used to build on the Province’s Green Belt adding “we have been clear that we will be expanding the green belt and will not develop on any part of it. I have rejected 9 different MZO requests from Municipalities that would have allowed development on the Green Belt.”
