Province & Feds to support Palmerston & District Community Centre

Both levels of government advocated for this project as well as others in Perth-Wellington

The Palmerston & District Community Centre will see major improvements thanks to the Town of Minto’s successful application to the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece and MP John Nater announced the funding today.

The investment is substancial, Pettapiece says, totalling over $2.4 million dollars. The Federal government will contribute $966,000, the provincial government will invest $796,950 and while the municipal share will be $652,050.

Improvements will include new and renovated arena dressing rooms; LED lighting upgrades for one of the existing baseball diamonds; and the creation of a third baseball diamond with backstop fencing and stone dust.

It will improve community access to indoor and outdoor recreation programs and activities and better serve non-profit sports groups that use the baseball diamonds and ice rink.

Both Pettapiece and Nater advocated for this project as well as all applications from municipalities and other organizations in Perth-Wellington.
