The Premier Doug Ford, Labour Minister Monte McNaughton and the Local MPP for Perth-Wellington Matthew Rae appeared this morning at local auto parts manufacturer Dyna Mig in Stratford.
The purpose of the event was to announce an investment of $5 million dollars to provide free training to 500 people from underrepresented groups to prepare them for jobs in the automotive sector.
The skills provided will include machine operation, assembly, quality control and logistics. The program is aimed at addressing a critical shortage of workers in the automotive sector.
The program will be led by the Automotive Parts Manufacturing Association and includes 3-month job placement through APMA’s network of more than 300 small and medium size businesses.
After completing the program each participant will receive a job officer from a local employer.
