Families, workers and seniors will all benefit from provincial tax credits and other initiatives, says Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece.
Pettapiece says as we approach tax season, they wanted to make sure that people who need a little help actually get it.
The Provincial tax credits and benefits include the Ontario Job Training Tax Credit that offers up to $2,000 or 50 percent of eligible expenses to help workers train for a career shift, re-train or sharpen skills.
The Seniors Home Safety Tax Credit is a credit worth 25 percent of up to $10,000 in eligible expenses to make a seniors’ home safer and more accessible to allow them to stay there longer.
The Low Income Tax Credit provides up to $850 each year in personal income tax relief which is meant to reduce or eliminate income tax, excluding the Ontario Health Premium.
And the Ontario Child Care Tax Credit provides parents flexibility in choosing child care options. The government is providing a 20 percent top-up for the tax credit for 2021, increasing it from $1250 to $1500 on average.
