A poster has made it rounds locally on social media in Wilmot Township regarding a “white lives matter” rally showing up in New Hamburg.

A councilor for Wilmot found the poster and shared her thoughts online.

Members of the Waterloo Hate Crime and Extremism Investigative Team, Equity Inclusion and Diversity Unit, General Investigative Unit, Intelligence Branch and Emergency Operations Centre are all working together to identify those responsible for the poster and attempting to host the rally.

Police are asking residents near Eby Crescent, Forrest Avenue, Catherine Street, Jacob Street Peel Street and Huron Road in New Hamburg to check any video surveillance which could help with the investigation.

Police adding if you see any posters, do not destroy them as you could be destroying possible evidence.
