Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece made a statement today saying that for over 10 years he has had the honour and privilege to represent the people of Perth-Wellington as their Member of Provincial Parliament. He says in this job trust is earned by helping people, one constituent at a time, one day at a time and he says he’s grateful for their trust.
He then adds he will not be seeking re-election. He says he turns 73 this month and that running again would mean committing, potentially to another 4 year term.
He says for a full-time the hours are long. In retiring he is choosing instead to spend those hours as a full-time husband, father and grandfather.
Of the announcement Provincial Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca said at a local Huron Bruce Candidate event later that evening in Brussels, Ontario that anyone that steps forward to serve the public deserves credit for that decision. He says it’s not easy on families and he wishes Randy and his family all the best as he retires from Provincial office.
