The Wellington Federation of Agriculture recently held one of the many planned local Perth-Wellington candidate debates.
PC’s Matthew Rae, NDP’s Jo-Dee Burbach, Ashley Fox of the Liberals and Laura Bisutti from the Green Party were in attendance.
Supply chain, housing and thoughts on the federal carbon tax were touched on.
On the topic of Bill 109, the More Homes for Everyone Act, Jo-Dee says this doesn’t allow for any input from a local stand.
“Municipalities will not be consulted on local planning decisions if that bill goes through. So Bill 109 will allow developers to have more control and municipal councils to have less, I find it’s very problematic.” said Burbach.
Multiple debates will be held throughout the month, including one at the Listowel Agriculture Hall on May 17th from 7:30-9:30pm, the event is open to the public and will be live streamed.
On top of the four major parties, Perth-Wellington also has representation with Bob Hosken for the New Blue Party of Ontario and Sandy McGregor for the Ontario Party.
