Perth OPP and Canine Unit locate Suspect after Cruiser Damaged and B&E

Accused was arrested after a Suspicious Vehicle was seen on a Property on Perth Line 40 in Perth East

Perth County OPP have advised that after an observant officer investigating a suspicious vehicle led to a damaged cruiser and over a dozen charges for a Stratford resident.

Just after 4 am last Thursday morning an officer on general patrol on Perth Line 40 in Perth East located a suspicious vehicle on a property. When they attempted to stop the vehicle it struck the cruiser and tried to flee.

After the vehicle became stuck the suspect fled on foot. While fleeing the suspect committed a break and enter at a nearby property.

With the assistance of the OPP Canine and West Region Emergency Response Team the suspect was located a short distance away and arrested.

A 26 year old male of Stratford has been charged with:

  • break and enter,
  • trespassing,
  • operation of a vehicle while prohibited
  • dangerous driving
  • failure to stop after an accident
  • flight from an officer
  • failure to comply with a probation order
  • possession of b&e tools
  • break and enter
  • possession of cocaine
  • failure to comply with a release order
  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
