Perth County Pork Producers made a large donation Monday to It Takes A Village in Listowel.
In honour of Pork Week they have donated 300lbs of ground pork to the food bank at It Takes a Village to ensure food security for those in need. Stewart Skinner of the Pork Producers says eating healthy shouldn’t be dictated by whether you can afford it or not.
“That’s why places like It Takes a Village are so important. Good food should not be tied to having the means.’ said Skinner.
Skinner adding there are many benefits of meats such as ground pork to a family at meal time.
“One pound of ground pork, that’s a meal for six and it’s a healthy meal. Those are the type of things are just the right thing to do as a member of the community.”
It Takes a Village continues to accept donations of food in this time of need as many continue to turn for support
