Perth County OPP have issued a warning to residents of the dangers of being out on the ice after reports of children playing on a partially frozen Maitland River.
Concerned citizens had called police at the Listowel Memorial Park near Royal Street East of the children on the thin ice and open water. OPP say venturing out onto rivers, lakes, ponds and reservoirs can have fatal results.
OPP are asking everyone to put their safety first and remember, no ice is safe ice.
