Perth County OPP are now equipped with Automated License Plate Recognition and In Car Camera systems in all patrol vehicles.
OPP across the region continue to see drivers without valid or registered plates.
While the cost for validation stickers has been removed, license plates are still required to be renewed annual or bi-annually.
The new tech will also make it easier for police to enhance the ability to detect plates linked with criminal or traffic offences.
These include wanted or missing people, stolen vehicles, suspended or prohibited drivers as well as vehicles associated with Amber Alerts.
