Perth County Looking at Coyote Hunting Compensation Program

Perth County is looking to a coyote hunting program which would compensate those hunting coyotes in the area.

Last fall county council discussed the matter of coyotes and the potential problems caused in rural communities.

The recommended compensation would be $100 per coyote pelt and the hunting would only be permitted within a 10km radius of where livestock was killed.

Should such a program be implemented, CAO Lori Wolfe stated there will be a limit on how many you can kill and that you’ll need a license to go out and hunt coyotes.

A decision will be made at a future meeting.
