Perth County, St Marys and Stratford Fire Departments are adopting new location technology to better help emergency services locate someone who gets lost by taking on what3words.
What3words is an easy way to talk about your current location with every three metre square in the world has been assigned an address.
Some examples include the Listowel Clock Tower using the words showdown.sticks.clash.
The app is free to use and works offline making it useful in areas with poor cell service.
Those in a location which is difficult to describe, 911 callers can use the what3words app and use the words assigned to them which emergency services can then pinpoint the location.
