Perth County council have voted to demolish the former land registry office and Perth County archives building.

The building located on 24 Andrew St in Stratford has been declared as surplus to the county’s needs and will have the building demolished instead of selling the property.

The registry and archives office has a long history being first built in 1910 but has been vacant since 2014 with various issues such as asbestos and mould.

Many councilors agreed with Daryl Herlick who said the wisest thing to do would be to demolish it.

The building is not listed as a designated heritage building.
