Perth County council met for the last time before heading into Christmas and got a look into next years budget.

The big topic was a base levy increase of $17.1 million, a 3.5 percent increase from this year of $16.5 million. Around $11.3 million in capital projects are in for next year, an increase of 5.46 percent from 2020.

An increase on shared municipal services could also see a slight increase. Around 1.48 percent of the proposed levy for services such as ambulance and social services as well as expenses related to the ongoing pandemic.

Should the budget be approved as it is, owners of a single family home in Perth County, assessed in 2016 at around $258,000 could see an increase of property taxes by $17.25. Owners of a farmland assessed in 2016 at $1.5 million could see a raise in county tax by around $25.52

Council will have the Christmas break to go over the proposal for next years budget and meet again in January to make any changes.
