It first started as North Perth Mayor Todd Kasenberg getting Perth County council silence on the idea to have an anti racism charter developed at a Perth County council meeting.

Months later Perth County has now adopted an equity, diversity and anti-racism charter. The public was consulted throughout the process as the charter is intended to be used to communicate the county’s commitment to diversity and act as the document for new policies.

With the charter, Perth County council has asked staff to look into the possibility of joining the Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities.

This coalition includes municipalities with shared goals of improving their regions against racism and discrimination.
