Patrick Anderson to Carry Canadian Flag for Paralympic Opening Ceremony

Fergus’ Patrick Anderson is getting the honour to carry the Canadian flag for the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony.

Anderson who will represent Canada in wheelchair basketball returns for his 6th Paralympic Games dating back to 2000.

The 45 year old has won gold for men’s wheelchair basketball in 2000, 2004, 2012 and a silver in 2008.

Anderson says its a big honour adding Canada is a special country and an opportunity to represent wheelchair basketball in front of the world and entire Canadian Paralympic Team.

Para swimmer Katarina Roxon of Kippens, Newfoundland will also carry the flag for Canada.

Anderson opens up the Paris tournament on August 30th with a preliminary game against Germany.
