Traffic in Palmerston continues to gain more discussion as council hears more from residents about safety concerns within the town.
The largest of issues in town come at the times when schools are let out, roughly around the same time workers from TG Minto also get off of work, leading to a rush hour feeling of traffic.
In a letter from Paul Frayne, some suggestions were given such as having speed markers or adding in a crosswalk at the high school.
Enforcement with the OPP has also been a large topic which co-acting CAO Chris Harrow says its needed but sometimes is understaffed and struggles to stay on top of it.
Councilor Jean Anderson says at times, the drive in Minto’s downtown’s very much feels like a city.
“I was there for an hour, you’d have thought you were in Kitchener. We watched a sports car, zoom out on the main street, yellow lines and pass a transport truck. The truck would have clocked him if he could have but I’m going ‘are you kidding me?’ if somebody had been walking across.” said Anderson.
Council is considering various options, including Black Cat speed monitors to record speed in the areas.
