Firefighters are expected to remain on the scene of a shed fire on 3rd Line in Palmerston throughout the evening rotating crews.
At 9pm last night Palmerston and Harriston Stations were called to reports of a shed fire on the 3rd Line of Palmerston.
Upon arrival crews found a shed full of straw and fully engulfed in flame. The owners were not home at the time.
Listowel, Clifford and Howick were then dispatched for tanker support.
Stations began filling in Palmerston, later switching to Listowel due to a water main break.
Firefighters were on scene all night and in the morning more tankers were added from Arthur and Moorefield along with manpower to relieve crews.
Firefighters are currently still on scene along with 2 high hoes pulling apart the straw and wetting it down.
The structure will be a total loss and has collapsed.
The fire department would like to kindly remind all road users of the importance of pulling over promptly and safely when an emergency vehicle approaches with its lights and sirens activated.
Emergency responders rely on the travelling public to clear the way quickly. When drivers do not yield to emergency vehicles, response times are delayed.
Please be advised that the OPP are actively patrolling and enforcing along Road 164.
