Palmerston Resident Found Guilty on Historical Sexual Assaults

A Palmerston man will be avoiding jail time after being found guilty in court over a string of sexual assaults going back over 20 years.

Michael Hurst was found guilty on two counts of sexual assault and three counts of committing an indecent act and sentenced to two years less a day of house arrest and three years probation.

The two-year less a day sentence will keep Hurst out of any federal institution and includes house arrest for the first 20 months with the last 4 months requiring Hurst to be at home at all times between 8pm and 6am.

He will also be required to be put on the sex offender registry for 20 years.

More charges are still against the 45 year old in superior court and he will return on June 15th.
