Officials have called a 2nd outbreak at St Marys General Hospital in Kitchener.
The outbreak is occurring on the hospitals 5th floor after two patients and one staff member tested positive for COVID-19. In a release, officials say proactive measures were put in place on Saturday when investigation on the potential outbreak started.
The 5th unit floor is now closed off to new admissions. 13 patients and 8 staff members are connected to the first outbreak on the hospitals 6th floor
A previous investigation on the hospitals 7th floor did not conclude a COVID-19 outbreak as the virus did not spread amongst the unit.
