The OSSTF, the union representing high school teachers has released a statement regarding the province wide shutdown.
The union says there was no prior consultation with organizations representing frontline workers. The union also saying there are major flaws and holes in Premier Fords comments on Monday. The union says the Premier claimed the source of COVID-19 is not being spread in schools but is still shutting down schools for 3 weeks or longer.
While the union acknowledged the lockdown will be providing emergency childcare for front line workers, educators are being left out in the cold.
The union ending their statement saying the Ford government has failed to note some parents do not have the technology to allow their children to properly do remote learning and with no consultation, a solution to the issue will be difficult to work out.
