Optimism Place Women’s Shelter and Support Services announced the launching of the “Building On Hope “capital campaign for the facility.

In order to meet the growing & immediate safety needs of women & children in Perth County they are expanding the residential side of their building at 270 Freeland Drive in Stratford.

It will be growing from 8 bedrooms with 13 beds to 18 bedrooms with 28 beds.

The 115% expansion is funded 80% by the CMHC and the City of Stratford but the remainder needs to be raised in the community.

Selena Jones, Fundraising & Community Engagement Lead tells of the issues they’ve encountered due to the lack of space.

“I think with just the numbers, the increasing calls, the increase in walk-ins we really need this to make sure that everyone that comes to our door and needs our support can get our support.”
