As October 1st marks National Seniors Day, Perth County OPP want to ensure the public they take the right steps to keep their families safe from fraud.
Scams continue to be lucrative business which preys on the vulnerable such as seniors which last year saw over $705 million in loses due to fraud according to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
OPP says unsolicited contact, urgency or requests from money are big red flags, never click attachments or suspicious links as they can contain malware giving scammers access to your device and always report fraud regardless if there is any money lost.
