Heading into Halloween Night on Friday, Huron County OPP are encouraging families to plan ahead and be safe.
OPP say while Halloween is a favourite tradition, its the added distractions of candy and costumes where safety can often be forgotten.
Some tips provided by police include to wear a reflective band or glow stick, use a flashlight and have reflective tape on your treat bag, never let small children go out alone, plan your route before you leave, only go to homes which are well lit and to walk on the sidewalk whenever possible.
Drivers are also being urged to drive slowly and be alert, especially in built up areas where children could be.
