Huron County OPP are currently on the scene of a fatal snowmobile crash that has taken place southeast of Vanastra.
This morning at approximately 8:35 am officers began investigating after receiving a call about a family member that was overdue from a snowmobile ride.
Officers and a group of civilians immediately commenced a search for the overdue snowmobiler searching an area southeast of Vanastra. Just before 11 am while officers and civilians were searching a bush on private property they discovered the snowmobile wreckage and an unresponsive victim.
The overdue snowmobile rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement Team are on scene assisting with the collision investigation.
The identity of the deceased will be released pending next-of-kin notification.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
