With this week being Canada Road Safety Week the OPP took to discuss distracted driving today on social media.
In the post driving instructor Jim Girard explains how driving instruction has changed due to the dangers posted by texting and driving.
“People are like what does this have to do with texting? The statistics of you looking up one day and seeing someone in your lane heading towards you texting and driving is completely different than it would have been 10 or 12 years ago.”
Canada Road Safety Week is an initiate led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
Texting behind the wheel is dangerous for both the person texting AND their fellow drivers. In fact, the danger posed by distracted driving has changed the way driving instructors teach the course. Here's Jim Girard.. #RoadSafetyWeek2021 #RoadSafetyWeek ^dr pic.twitter.com/CbDUD4L9DK
