Ontario’s top doctor is urging citizens to wear a mask once again voluntarily.

Dr. Kieran Moore spoke earlier this morning as hospital beds continue to slim and as available beds in pediatric hospitals continue to be overwhelmed with an influx of sick patients.

Dr. Moore says a combo of COVID-19, the flu and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and its important to think of the most vulnerable during these times.

“What we are facing is a triple threat that requires our collective action. An action to protect the most vulnerable in our communities, the very young, the very old and those with underlying medical issues.” said Moore.

Dr. Moore adds the most vulnerable within the community to do what they can to prevent getting the flu by getting their flu shot.

“This is different from COVID. This is about protecting our children… I’m very concerned about our children and protecting them right now and it’s best we protect them through masking in the home environment and in any social situation as we go into a very social environment in the winter.”

The peak of flu season is expected in early to mid December.

Premier Ford echoed similar comments earlier who urged the public to wear a mask, but stopped short of imposing a mandate.
