Premier Ford spoke this morning, joined alongside Indigenous Affairs Minister Greg Rickford and Indigenous leaders.
The conference opened from the Seven Generations Education Institute in Fort Frances, Premier Ford joining virtually.
Premier Ford announcing the investment of $10 million over the next 3 years to investigate residential schools sites and provide mental health support for indigenous residents.
“Our government will work with indigenous leaders to ensure the process is indigenous lead and respects the wishes residential school survivors and their families.” said Premier Ford.
Advocates have been calling on all levels of government to provide more support and uncover the horrors of residential schools and have all victims properly honoured.
