The families of victims killed in crashes involved in alcohol or drugs will have a provincial memorial monument to honour their loved ones.

MADD Canada is working with the City of Brampton to have the Ontario Memorial Monument for Victims of Impaired Driving.

It’s expected to be publicly unveiled at a ceremony in early June.

MADD Canada National President Jaymie-Lyne Hancock who lost her 18 year old brother in 2014 when he was driving home from a hockey tryout says this will mark a permanent tribute for victims.

There are other memorial monuments in 7 other provinces with MADD setting a goal to have a monument in every province and territory.

Names can be added to the tribute in either Ontario or others from MADD’s website.
