Ontario Reports Canadas First Cases of New COVID-19 Variant

Among Ontario’s new numbers of COVID-19 cases, it has detected the country’s first two cases of a the new variant known as Omicron.

Health Minister Christine Elliot says both cases were found in the Ottawa area from two who recently returned from Nigeria.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kieran Moore says public health is conducting case and contact management as both patients self isolate.

The federal government has banned visitors from seven countries in Southern Africa, which does not include Nigeria.
