Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath was in Stratford this morning to speak at an event concerning housing. Also in attendance is local Perth-Wellington Candidate for the Party Jo-Dee Burbach.
Burbach is also a Councillor for the City of Stratford. Horwath discussed issued surrounding housing affordability including a plan the party has to assist with the down payments for first time home buyers.
“It’s something we call shared equity loan and it would provide 10% of the value of the property as a loan to first time home buyers who would not have to pay that loan back until they sell the property or move out.”
The Perth-Wellington riding will have no incumbent for the upcoming election with current MPP for the area, PC Party Member Randy Pettapiece, previously announcing his retirement from politics.
