Ontario libraries are asking the government to have a province wide digital public library to support residents in municipalities to have the same access to materials seen in cities and larger urban centres.

Executive Director of the Federation of Ontario Public Libraries, Dina Stevens says libraries are mainly funded by municipalities, leaving each library system to purchase their own material.

Stevens says the estimated cost for the system would cost Ontario around $9.4 million per year and hopes to see some form of commitment in the provincial budget.
