Ontario is increasing its tax on non-resident home buyers to 20 per cent.

The tax will expand to include the entire province. Originally the tax was marked at 15 per cent and only applied in the Greater Golden Horseshoe region across Southern Ontario.

Officials say the province is looking at other measures aimed at land speculation issues such as construction slowdowns which might be driving up home prices.

These are all part of the government’s action plan on housing.
