One Person Charged in Connection to Residential Fire in Mitchell

A suspicious residential fire investigation conducted by members of the Perth County OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall and the OPP Forensic Identification Service has led to one person facing a number of charges.

On February 11th just before 9:30 am Police, Fire and Paramedics responded to a fire at an apartment building on St. David Street in Mitchell.

Two adults were transported to hospital, 1 with minor injuries and a second with serious injuries.

As a result of the investigation a 27 year old male of no fixed address was arrested and charged with attempt to commit murder, arson with disregard for human life and 2 counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
