The roadway has since reopened following an overnight closure in Fergus.
At around 5:30pm on Wednesday, Wellington County OPP were called to a pedestrian being hit at the intersection of Belsyde Avenue and Tower Street South.
The pedestrian was taken to a trauma centre with life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
The intersection was closed for the bulk of the night, reopening just after 3am. Investigation remains ongoing.
