The old Groves hospital site in Fergus is being demolished with the property sold and its proceeds going back to future health care services in the area.
The Wellington Health Care Alliance in June last year announced the demolition of the old site was likely what was going to happen with officials confirming the news on Monday.
The building has been vacant since August 2020 when the new hospital opened up.
The decommission work will take place this spring and summer.
