North Wellington Healthcare announced today that starting June 6th and until at least September 1st the Palmerston & District Hospital and the Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest will be redirecting obstetrical services.
The move is necessary they say to deal with challenges in recruiting nurses trained in obstetrics to fill vacancies and provide opportunities for their new nurses to gain competencies in OB care.
Angela Stanley, President & CEO at North Wellington Healthcare says that while the temporary closure will impact less than 10 of their patients between the two sites they do recognize the impact on the community.
Stanley later adds that they are actively recruiting for new nurses, physicians and all healthcare providers in a very competitive market.
