North Perth council took time at their recent meeting to review voting methods as the municipal election is set to take place in October.

The voting methods report included having residents provide feedback regarding voting methods from Your Say North Perth which ran from August 30th-September 17th.

Of the 22 responses, voting online was the most preferred method while mail-in was chosen last.

Clerk Lindsay Cline says staff recommendations for voting should just stay the same as it has been in previous elections.

“The recommended method is tried and true, its been used for many years by the municipality and the public is familiar with the technology.” said Cline.

While some discussion of not using internet voting was discussed, council approved to keep its standard voting methods.

Since 2001, North Perth has used paper ballots and vote tabulators to collect results.
