During last nights council meeting, North Perth council heard from CAO Kris Snell who highlighted on many topics, the top being the lack of beds in long term care homes in North Perth.

As the population grows in North Perth, the need for beds in care homes will continue to rise. While more beds and expanding care homes in North Perth is a set goal, the first will start with a market study. With the data council would be able to use it as obvious proof on an application sent to the Ministry of Long Term Care for Long Term Care Home Development.

CAO Kris Snell highlighted the lack of beds in North Perth is pushing seniors away

“Currently right now, many of our residents are forced to leave the community to receive the necessary long term care that they need in their later years. It’s been an on-going issue in our community for a number of years.” said Snell

The vote to approve the $3500 funding for the Long Term Care Market Study was carried 10-0.
