North Perth has introduced an Additional Residential Units Registration program better known as ARUs.
Council has approved the implementation of the program for the purpose to promote consumer safety and ensuring the ARU’s are known to emergency services.
ARU’s are self contained units with a private kitchen, bathroom and sleeping area but are different from other residential units as they are an accessory to the primary dwelling on the property.
Property owners with ARU’s must obtain a building permit for each on their property and complete necessary inspections.
