Stratford Police are reminding residents there is no bylaw allowing the use of e-scooters in the area, making them prohibited to use in the community.
E-scooters are defined as a vehicle with two wheels, a steering handlebar which controls the front, steerable wheel and an electric motor not exceeding 500 watts and a maximum speed of 24 kilometers an hour.
With this regulation, the provincial government prohibits their use on highways, sidewalks, trails, paths or walkways in a public area unless the municipality governing the area creates a bylaw permitting their use.
Stratford, St Marys and Perth South all do not have such bylaws in place.
